HUSUM Wind continues today as planned after it was necessary to evacuate the lightweight exhibition halls yesterday. All 700 exhibitors will be showcasing their products and innovations, and the diverse congress programme will also be continued.
13.09.2017 // The decision to reopen the halls was made in consultation with the police and fire service after an extensive safety examination by Messe Husum & Congress. The strong storm had already abated on Wednesday evening, after which any damage was fixed so that the exhibition can continue as normal today.
On the occasion of the reopening of HUSUM Wind 2017, Peter Becker, managing director of Messe Husum & Congress, stated: “Cyclone Sebastian created a bit of turmoil yesterday, but the evacuation of the halls proceeded in an orderly manner. I would like to sincerely thank the visitors and exhibitors, and not least the fire service, for their support – when things get serious, the wind industry sticks together.”
Cyclone Sebastian developed differently than forecast, bringing weather conditions that were most unusual even for the wind-experienced north of Germany. According to the German Meteorological Service (DWD), wind speeds reached up to 140 km/h. “Today Husum has once again shown that we can cope with wind in any form”, said Becker.
