Cabinet meets on opening day at the trade fair / state government’s commitment to wind energy and Schleswig-Holstein as a location for energy transition.
The Minister-President of Schleswig-Holstein, Daniel Günther, will open HUSUM Wind 2019, which will take place as usual in the far north from 10 to 13 September. Over 650 exhibitors from Germany and neighbouring European countries will present innovative products and promising technologies from the onshore, offshore, power-to-x, service and financing sectors at Germany’s leading trade fair for wind energy. The industry event is also the most important platform for the national wind industry to exchange information on the market, political framework conditions and solutions for a successful energy transition.
Minister-President Günther explained his commitment by saying that the focus of the trade fair on digitalisation and sector coupling are also central topics of the energy transition for the state government. “Within the framework of energy system transition research, we want to advance solutions, in particular for the integration of new technologies into the energy system and the digitalisation of the energy sector,” said Günther, emphasising his commitment to Schleswig-Holstein as a trade fair and wind location.
Cabinet meeting of state government at HUSUM Wind
In addition, the head of the state emphasised that in view of the importance of wind energy for the state, comparing notes with representatives of the industry will be of particular value to the entire cabinet. The cabinet will therefore hold its meeting at HUSUM Wind on the opening day of the fair. After the opening, the state government will also take a tour of the trade fair to find out about promising developments for the success of the energy transition, the potential for increased system integration and to exchange information and ideas with representatives from the industry.
In addition to the special topics of digitalisation and power-to-x, a third focus this year, with a view to 2021, will be on post-EEG solutions for the re-use of wind turbines that are no longer eligible for EEG funding after 20 years. Schleswig-Holstein has a model character in this respect, since the first wind turbines were erected on land here and different plans and approaches for their use after the end of the subsidy are already being tested.
